Ontario is making it easier for commuters in the Weston neighbourhood to take public transit by adding more parking spaces at the Weston GO Station on the Kitchener line.
Starting December 21, Metrolinx will open 126 new parking spaces in the lot located at the eastern end of the Weston GO Station platform. Drivers can access the spaces from 1731 Weston Road.
Ontario is making the largest infrastructure investment in the province’s history – more than $134 billion over 10 years, which is making 110,000 jobs possible every year across the province, with projects such as roads, bridges, transit systems, schools and hospitals. Between April and September, the province announced support for more than 200 projects that will keep people and goods moving, connect communities and improve quality of life. Adding more parking spaces at the Weston GO Station builds on that progress.
Investing in transit is part of the government’s plan to build Ontario up. The four-part plan includes investing in people's talents and skills, making the largest investment in public infrastructure in Ontario’s history, creating a dynamic, innovative environment where business thrives, and building a secure retirement savings plan.
“Adding 126 new parking spots to the Weston GO Station will make the daily commute and quality of life better for the people of York South-Weston. Our residents will have easier access to the GO network and get where they need to go faster.” — Laura Albanese, MPP for York South-Weston
“We are very pleased to be able to give customers more places to park at our Weston GO Station. Making it more convenient for people to get to and from our stations is a top priority as we expand GO Train service throughout the region.” — Greg Percy, President of GO Transit
